Fort Hill wins Big Rivalry Game against Allegany!

November 9, 2008
By iHigh Admin of Great American Rivalry Series

The town of Cumberland, Maryland completely shuts down for this rivalry. Store fronts, houses and cars were all decorated for “homecoming weekend” and the rivalry game was all anyone was talking about. The principal from one school made it known that this meant more than the state championship.

Both teams came into the game with identical records and ranked second and third in the polls were expecting to win. And this game went down to the last play of the game, with Fort Hill scoring a last minute touchdown to win the game and bring the trophy back home after losing to Allegany last year. Fort Hill won the game 26 -22. Fort Hill dedicated this game to teammate Mike O’Kelly, their star running back injured last year in a car accident. He was proudly presented the trophy at the end of the game!
